Privacy policy

The short version

Dune & Shade has no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. The only personal information we ever receive is what you type into the contact form and send us. Analytics is aggregate and we do not sell anything about you to anyone.

What we collect

If you use the contact form

Your name, email address, an optional subject line and your message. These are sent to our inbox by email so we can reply. We keep the message as long as it is useful for correspondence, and we do not add you to any mailing list — there is no mailing list.

The form also records the moment the page loaded and your IP address, briefly and in memory only, as part of its spam defenses. Neither is stored after the submission is handled.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and which recommendations people click. That service sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device type, browser and the pages you visit. We see it in aggregate; we cannot identify you from it.

We also record when an outbound product link is clicked, so we know which recommendations are useful. That event records the merchant, the destination URL and the page you clicked from — not anything about you.

Google's own handling of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension. The site works identically either way.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you pass through a redirect on this site and arrive at Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon may then set its own cookies to attribute a purchase to us. That is Amazon's process, governed by Amazon's privacy notice, and we never see who bought what — only aggregate earnings. More on how this works is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. We do not use those logs for anything else.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your personal information.
• We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
• We do not have user accounts, so there is nothing to breach.
• We do not operate a newsletter or send marketing email.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics ones. We set no advertising, preference or session cookies of our own. Blocking cookies entirely will not break anything here.

Your choices

• Block analytics with a browser setting or extension, at any time.
• Ask us to delete any message you have sent us, and we will.
• Ask what we hold about you, which will be your contact-form message and nothing else.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. We do not have your email address, so we cannot notify you — which is itself a reasonable summary of how little data this site holds.
