Dune & Shade is published by Selena Hann as a free, advertising-supported resource. By using it you accept the terms below. If you do not, please do not use the site.

What this site is

Editorial research and opinion about beach equipment, based on manufacturers' published specifications. It is not professional advice of any kind. In particular it is not medical advice about sun exposure, heat or mobility, and it is not a safety certification of any product.

We have not used the products described here, and we say so on every relevant page. How picks are made is set out in our methodology.

Accuracy

We take sourcing seriously: every specification is read from the manufacturer's own published listing and attributed to it. Even so, manufacturers change products, revise specifications and discontinue models without notice, and errors are possible.

Always check the current details with the retailer or manufacturer before buying, and always follow the manufacturer's own instructions for setting up and anchoring equipment. If you find something wrong here, tell us and we will fix it — see our corrections process.

Safety

Beach equipment can be hazardous when used incorrectly. Unanchored umbrellas and canopies can become airborne and injure people. Our guides describe general principles; they do not replace the instructions supplied with your equipment, or the judgment to pack up when conditions turn. You are responsible for how you use your own gear.
