Mac Sports Push & Pull vs All-Terrain
One is five pounds lighter to lift into the car. The other doubles the load and lets you push instead of drag. That is the whole decision.

The short answer
What Mac Sports publishes for each
| All-Terrain | Push & Pull | |
|---|---|---|
| Empty weight | Under 22 lb | 27.1 lb |
| Capacity | 150 lb | 300 lb |
| Open size | 37 x 21 x 25 in | 44.9 x 23 x 38.6 in |
| Folded size | Folds to under 10 in | 32.3 x 23 x 8.3 in |
| Interior | Not published | 31 x 17.8 x 13.5 in |
| Handle | Pull only | Converts between push and pull |
| Fabric | 600D polyester, mildew and UV resistant | Not published |
Every figure here is from Mac Sports' own product pages for the two wagons.
Two rows are worth pausing on. The Push & Pull is the only wagon in our registry with a published interior volume, which is the figure that tells you whether a cooler actually fits. And the All-Terrain is the only one of the pair with a published fabric spec — UV resistance matters on something that lives in direct sun all summer.
Why pushing is not a gimmick
Dragging a loaded wagon puts the force through one arm behind you, at shoulder height, with your torso twisted. Pushing puts it through both arms in front of you and lets your legs do the work. On firm ground the difference is marginal. On a soft-sand gradient, where the wheels are sinking and the resistance roughly triples, it is the difference between a walk and a fight.
That is why the handle, not the capacity, is the reason to choose the Push & Pull. If you load 80 lb and walk 40 yards over flat packed sand, the All-Terrain handles it and you saved five pounds of lift. If you load 200 lb and climb a dune path, no amount of capacity on a pull handle helps.
The part nobody factors in: the car
Both of these fold, but they fold differently. The All-Terrain folds to under 10 in and is 37 in long open. The Push & Pull is 44.9 in long open and folds to 32.3 x 23 x 8.3 in — thinner, but much wider. In a hatchback the thinner fold wins; in a sedan trunk with a narrow opening, the shorter one does.
And the empty weight is a lifting weight, twice per beach day, usually at the end when you are tired and sandy. Five pounds does not sound like much written down. It is the reason the 16 lb Mac Sports Lightweight exists at all, and the reason people who buy the heaviest wagon in a range sometimes stop using it.
Choose the All-Terrain if
- Your loads are a cooler, chairs and a shade — comfortably under 150 lb
- You lift the wagon in and out of a car on your own
- The walk is short, flat or over packed sand
- You want the published UV-resistant fabric spec
Choose the Push & Pull if
- You routinely load more than 150 lb
- There is a gradient, a dune path or deep dry sand between the car and the spot
- You want the published interior dimensions before you buy a cooler
- Two adults share the lifting
What about the other two in the range?
The Mac Sports Lightweight is 16 lb, the lightest wagon in our registry, and Mac Sports publishes its open, folded and interior dimensions — more disclosure than either wagon above. The catch is stated by Mac Sports itself: it is not made to transport children, and no capacity figure is published at all.
The Xtender XL takes a different axis entirely. It is 25 lb with the same 150 lb capacity as the All-Terrain, and buys 52.25 in of load length — the only wagon here a folded beach umbrella lies flat in. Mac Sports names canopies, coolers and sun umbrellas as the reason for the length. See beach wagons, ranked for the whole field, and wagons for seniors if the lifting is the constraint.
Every pick in full
Category photo#1 · The default soft-sand wagon
Mac Sports All-Terrain Beach Wagon
Wide-tread rubber wheels, 150 lb capacity and under 22 lb empty — the wagon most beach days actually need.
| Carry weight | Under 22 lb (Mac Sports) |
|---|---|
| Packed size | Folds to under 10 in (Mac Sports) |
| Size / capacity | 37 x 21 x 25 in open; 150 lb capacity |
| Setup | Pull the frame open; no assembly |
| How it holds down | Not applicable |
| UPF / materials | 600D polyester, mildew and UV resistant (Mac Sports) |
What it does well
- Large wide-tread wheels — tread width is what keeps a wagon on top of dry sand
- Folds under 10 in, so it goes in a car with the cooler, not instead of it
- 150 lb capacity covers a full family load with margin
- Mac Sports publishes open dimensions, folded size, capacity and weight, which most wagon brands do not
Where it falls short
- Under 22 lb is still 22 lb to lift in and out of a car
- Pull handle only — the push-and-pull model is a separate product
- Mac Sports publishes no wheel diameter, and its own page calls the wheels plastic in one place and rubber in another

Category photo#2 · Heavy loads over soft ground
Mac Sports Push & Pull Wagon
300 lb capacity and a handle you can push instead of drag — the difference that matters uphill in sand.
| Carry weight | 27.1 lb (Mac Sports) |
|---|---|
| Packed size | 32.3 x 23 x 8.3 in folded (Mac Sports) |
| Size / capacity | 44.9 x 23 x 38.6 in open; 300 lb capacity |
| Setup | Open the frame; the handle converts between push and pull |
| How it holds down | Not applicable |
| UPF / materials | Not published |
What it does well
- 300 lb is double the standard All-Terrain's capacity
- Pushing uses your legs; dragging uses your shoulders. Over soft sand that is the whole game
- Deepest interior here at 31 x 17.8 x 13.5 in
Where it falls short
- 27.1 lb empty — the heaviest wagon in this registry
- 44.9 in long open, which needs a real car boot

Category photo#3 · Lifting it into the car alone
Mac Sports Lightweight Collapsible All-Terrain Beach Wagon
16 lb empty, which is six pounds less than the All-Terrain and the whole reason to choose it.
| Carry weight | 16 lb (Mac Sports) |
|---|---|
| Packed size | 30.1 x 19.7 x 7.9 in folded (Mac Sports) |
| Size / capacity | 32.3 x 19.3 x 22 in open; 27.5 x 17 x 10 in interior |
| Setup | Open and go |
| How it holds down | Not applicable |
| UPF / materials | Not published |
What it does well
- 16 lb is the lightest wagon in this registry, and you feel it at the car
- Folds to 7.9 in deep
- Mac Sports publishes open, folded AND interior dimensions
Where it falls short
- Mac Sports states plainly that it is not made to transport children — take that literally
- Smaller interior than the All-Terrain, and Mac Sports publishes no capacity figure for it

Category photo#4 · Long items — canopies, poles, umbrellas
Mac Sports Xtender Wagon XL
52.25 in of load length, which is the only wagon here a folded beach umbrella lies flat in.
| Carry weight | 25 lb (Mac Sports) |
|---|---|
| Packed size | Folds to just under 8 in wide (Mac Sports) |
| Size / capacity | 52.25 in overall length; 150 lb capacity, 30% more room than the standard wagon |
| Setup | Open and extend |
| How it holds down | Not applicable |
| UPF / materials | 600D polyester, mildew and UV resistant |
What it does well
- Mac Sports specifically cites canopies, coolers and sun umbrellas as the reason for the length
- 30% more interior room than a standard wagon for 3 lb more weight
- Still folds under 8 in wide
Where it falls short
- Same 150 lb capacity as the much shorter All-Terrain — this buys length, not strength
- 52 in is awkward on a narrow beach path
